Reviews Overview

Most Liked

Visitors rave about the excellent beer and wine selection, perfect for pairing with meals or simply enjoying after a long day. The casual atmosphere fosters connections, whether you're dining with family or catching a game with friends.

The food consistently receives high praise, especially the mouthwatering fish and chips, which many claim rival renowned dishes from coastal towns. Regulars often recommend the pulled chicken and the bacon cheeseburger, which boasts juicy patties and indulgent toppings. The desserts also stand out, particularly the biscoff lotus cheesecake, which visitors often rave about. Friendly service is a common theme in reviews, with the staff frequently recognized for their promptness and warm attentiveness.

Most Disliked

While Kings Head delivers a welcoming experience, some patrons mention peak times resulting in longer wait times, especially on weekends. Busy Saturdays at 6 PM can lead to a full house, prompting some diners to plan their visits more strategically.

Another occasional point of criticism revolves around menu options during high-demand hours. Popular items may run low as the night progresses, leading to disappointment for diners looking forward to specific dishes. Those hoping for quieter visits may find that weekdays offer a more peaceful experience than bustling weekends.

Nice and bright pub with a good selection of food and drinks. It was pretty full as we arrived but we'd booked a table and it was a pleasant atmosphere. The staff were very prompt with drinks and food orders and so friendly. We had the pulled chicken, halloumi and garlic bread for starters which were all delicious but particularly the pulled chicken which was fried and nice and crispy. I had the bacon and cheese burger for a main and it was the best burger I've ever had! Just perfect. We perused the desserts through the fun little counter and took away the biscoff lotus cheesecake and the pistachio cake which were fresh and delicious. I'd happily go back next time I'm in the area.

Sunday afternoon walk in, family of 4. No problem getting a table. Staff were extremely friendly, welcoming and very accommodating for my specific food requirements. Food was spot on and very reasonably priced. No wonder this place is top rated, got everything right. Service, food and price. 100% coming back when we're next driving through.

Superb Fish N Ships!!! Fresh and tender cod. As good as the famous "Mister Chips" in Whitby. Nice atmosphere, well decorated and great service.

This is a great little place! It has a really good menu, offering much more than just "pub grub" and the food is always delicious. It's a family run business, Eddie and Abbie create a really warm and welcoming atmosphere with excellent friendly service. We eat here at least once a month and have never left disappointed.

We just had a wonderful Sunday lunch at this lovely pub. The staff were attentive and friendly, and the food was delicious and epically portioned. A special word for the homemade Sticky Toffee Pudding which was out of this world. We would highly recommend to anyone in the area.

Community pub in Bwlchgwyn. Great to see this pub open as it brings the locals together. Two lovely ales from local facers brewery on. Serves food.. Home made cakes and open from 9 for brecwasts(Thursday Friday Saturday I think) which I'm told by several people is very nice. Good service too. Could do with some dimmer lighting in evening which would add to the ambience but that's just me as I'm getting more wrinkly by the day. Recommended 🍻
